The Mystic Pie Dance is a contra dance that has been running since 1979! Each dance features live music, and a dance caller that teaches the basic moves then calls dances all night long! 

 

Venues have ranged from the Stonington Como to the Oddfellows Hall on Cottrell Street to the Polish Club to the German Club to Groton Thrive 55 senior center.

 

Pie has been an element of the dance since 2010 – we’ve consumed a lot of pies! Huge thanks to the pie baker volunteers who have kept us in pies… Nancy W, Carol B, Pat B, Dawn… and sometimes others! Why pie? We wanted to pay the bands more! - all proceeds go to the band and caller (and they get free pie!).
